Today is February 14th so, HAPPY VALENTINEāS DAY!!!ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
I donāt have a significant other but for those that do, I am so happy for you š I am actually tearing up as I write this (because Iām overdramatic) I just LOVE love. I am always so moved to tears. Valentineās day is so significant because it is a day that is dedicated love. It is not just about people in relationships. Itās about love in general and love is something that we really need in this world. We lack so much love and no one cares about each other. Everyone only cares about themselves (I am not exempt from this) and it's actually kind of sad.
What is love?
The dictionary definition is āan intense feeling of deep affection.ā I definitely agree with this (not that I should be disagreeing with a dictionary š). When you love someone, you should feel so comfortable with them that you can be 100% yourself at all times. You should not compromise
who you are or feel like you have to put up a front. You should not feel like you canāt confront them if you ever feel like they have wronged you or if they do something that just doesnāt sit right with you. You should not be afraid of how they will react to certain things to the point that you withhold certain information from them :/ It should not be overly difficult, and it definitely should not be painful. I repeat, IT SHOULD NOT BE PAINFUL!!!! You should not feel like you have to experience pain, just to feel love. (this is mostly targeted towards relationships and also bc of a post I saw on Twitter) You should not have to suffer through a terrible relationship of cheating and lies before you enter into a good relationship. There is no rite of passage for relationships, PERIOD! You should not stay in a relationship with a cheater bc of how many years you put into the relationship. That is not love (Anyway, I'm not about to sit here and rant about relationships bc Iāve never been in one. But, I'm pretty sure I know what I am talking aboutš). You need to put your love for yourself first. And, if you are struggling with self-love (like I am), take the time to figure out how to love yourself first, before you try to love someone else.
Writing about this actually reminds me that I am not actually completely sure if I know how to love. Itās crazy because all the things that I described above that you shouldnāt do with someone you love is exactly how I always feel around everyone š¤·š¾āāļø (well, not everything) I donāt have anyone in my life that I feel like I am 100% comfortable around. I always feel like I have to hide certain aspects of myself depending on who I am with. I seriously struggle with even telling people that I love them š¬ Iāll go deeper into this in a later post, but all of my life I have struggled to love myself, and I still am, so I definitely feel like this contributes to my inability to show affection towards my loved ones (there are definitely other factors butā¦ that topicās for another lifetime maybe :/) So anywayā¦ the point that I wanted to make was that I think that love is very important. Everyone (mostly everyoneš) deserves to be loved. And I think that it is seriously crucial to show the ones that you love just how much you love them.
(Random thoughts: I honestly wonder if it's even possible for me to be 100% myself around anyone. Is that even a thing?š Maybe you can actually love someone and still feel like you have to hide aspects of yourself because youāre not completely sure if they truly love you? Maybe I hide things because I feel like it might change the relationship with them or I feel like they may judge me, or maybe it has to do with the fact that I am not 100% comfortable with myself :/ or that I have mad trust issues :/ who knows?š¤·š¾āā)
Soā¦ I hope you guys showed love to those that you love today (and every day, bc tomorrow really isn't promised).ššš I also want you guys to keep in mind that I am not an expert at this topic, so take from it what you can. You don't have to agree with everything I say lol.
